About Adams Hydraulics

The company was founded by Samuel Henry Adams in 1885 and was originally Adams of York and London. The name was then changed to Adams Hydraulics Ltd in 1903.

The company specialised in the manufacture and supply of Apparatus and Plant for the Works of Sewerage and Sewage Purification. The manufacturing facility and foundry was located in the centre of York until 1991. It was then relocated to the outskirts of York to a purpose built manufacturing facility. The company had a strong export market and supplied to Australasia, North & South America, Middle East, South Africa, India and Europe as well as the domestic market.

With the acquisition of Three Star Environmental in 2001, Adams Hydraulics Ltd was amongst the market leaders in the cost effective design, supply, installation, commissioning, and training and after sales support of a wide range of high quality screens, screenings handling equipment and grit plant.

As well as being on numerous approved supplier lists, the company secured several Water Company Frameworks, the most notable of which being our status as Sole Supplier of Inlet Screens and Scraper Bridges to Severn Trent Water.

We can supply single 'stand alone' items of equipment from our product range or we can provide a full turnkey design (including 3D Modelling), supply and installation service embracing water hydraulics systems review, screening, scraper bridges, percolating filter distributors, penstocks, GRP, electrical and hydraulic operation and control, all of which is embodied in a company wide culture of professional project management.
